December 2018 Newsletter

What's Going On?

It's been a few months since the last newsletter and a great deal has happened, so it's time to bring everyone up to date. The AGM in September was a great success with a good attendance and plenty to present and discuss. The committee has grown as a result of the officer elections, making the management of the group a little easier with more hands to share some of the work. The 2017-18 season since the last AGM has seen the group grow, not only in membership numbers, but in stature and capability. Our first formal contract is in place and we are delivering on it. Relationships have been built with other groups & organisations (more of that below) and we have made a start on our strategic direction for the next few years.

We are already halfway through the season, so lets all look forward to a productive and fun winter. Some of the important details of this are outlined below.

In the meantime can I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued hard work and to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

What's Going On?

All the hard work throughout the summer is coming to a conclusion ready for the season launch at the AGM on the 10th September. The group is changing in many ways, all for the better I believe. We have a stronger strategy and even better control of the management of the group and what we do. We have had great attendance at the committee meetings over recent months from a number of members who have now expressed an interest in formally joining the committee. I always think it's a sign of a strong group when there is a desire from the members to influence its management and become involved in its development - please let us know if you are interested in joining the committee as a formal officer or a co-opted member

July Updates

The end of June and the early part of July have been especially busy for the group. The help we have had from our members has enabled us to support a number of projects which have further enhanced our reputation and relationships with the NFC and Wild Rumpus (organisers of the TIMBER festival) I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped in whatever way to take the group forward yet again. This is a very busy newsletter, so please take a little time to read through, there are important items we need your feedback on. The new season is in sight, so there is lots to do in preparation

What's Going On?

The "closed" season is becoming as busy as the felling season. This year we have ambitions to expand, we are playing a big part in the TIMBER festival, trying our hands at corporate days and the recent highlight of the charcoal retort has created another string to our bow.

Already in mid June with the festival only a couple of weeks away, it already feels like the new felling season is on the horizon. Here are the updates on what the group is doing and where we are heading over the next few months.
